Week 2: an easy one...
I arrive quite fresh from the relatively short journey by air from Melbourne to my international destination. The air is sticky and wet while amazingly clean for one of the last remaining city states in the world. Floral arrangements line the streets from the airport all the way to the city central and my taxi driver shatters my hopes when he tells me that there are not, and never were any lions here.
My wallet is pleased as the taxi only costs me around $35 in the local currency and I arrive at the monstrosity of a hotel that I have arranged. Three enormous towers stand tall over the bay joined by a vessel shaped luxury viewing platform.
Due to gaming laws the locals do not congregate here but tourists flock from all over the continent to throw their money to the gods of gambling in hope for a win.
I ignore the throng of tourists lined up to gamble and head toward the hub of town, a single road named after a piece of land laden with fruit. The people walk fast here, in fact they are the fastest walkers on the planet. The road is filled with sightseers and shoppers buzzing around and occasionally stopping to eat.
Eating is something that this place is famous for. Street food is all the rage and tourist's minds can be put at easy by a simple lettering system. One dish is king here and I settle down at a favorite food vendor to eat my dish. Fingers get covered in spicy flavor as no fork can help me break the tough exterior of this creature, but the eating is way worth the difficult task.
I decide to take a short trip out near to the country's border to see some animals. The journey takes me past countless numbers of gated communities where many of the locals live because many of my countrymen having seemingly taken over the city.
On arrival to the sanctuary I enjoy a meal with an orangutan and drop in to see a tiger or two.
After my adventure I could have taken the opportunity to slip over the border to a theme park in the neighboring country which honors one of my favorite childhood toys, but I chose not to and headed back into the city.
Tonight at dinner I avoid eating anything containing garlic for legalities inhibit my options for ailment of the problems I might face if I do.
My stay here is usually short and sweet as it is often a stopover destination for me en route to a much farther place. But I always manage to find something new here as this destination rolls with the times and often stays ahead of fashion.
I am of course in...
